Microprose is back !!
Discussion
This snuck up on me. Microprose are going to be releasing some new games soon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ko0gLIoNpM . Had very happy times playing the likes of Falcon 3.0 ,F-117, Grand Pix, Silent Service in my youth. Ahhhh good old DOS games.
The Grand Prix 2 is still one of my favourites - 50 full colour pages on how to install and play the game, then 104 page of appendices covering racing techniques, car steup, circuit guide and even the postal addresses of the teams (if you were planning to write to Benetton to complain about their use of traction control, I'm afraid it's now a Topps Tiles).
Loved Microprose!

They've been back for a little while now
I've got Carrier Command 2, I know that wasn't originally one of theirs (until they acquired Firebird IIRC?) but despite some early issues it's shaping into a good game now. Tiny Combat Arena (simple but enjoyable flight sim based on the Harrier) is worth a look, again though consider it early access for now. Ground Branch is a pretty interesting team-based FPS, not far from the Tom Clancy sort of setting. They did a teaser shot with the silhouette of an AH-64 Apache so I'm assuming there's some sort of Gunship/G2000 reboot coming too. There's a naval warfare sim called Sea Power in development as well.
Somewhat confusing product line-up in places though - think they posted on Facebook recently that they have not one but three games coming up based on the B-17!

Yeah, they're a company which doesn't just make their own games but is also a publisher who releases smaller companies games but does so under the Microprose name so there's quite a lot of overlap in what Microprose the company sells. For the B-17 there's the 2000 game (which I loved playing) called the Mighty 8th, a "set to be released in 2023" remake of the the 2000 game called Mighty 8th Redux, a 2021 reissue of the 1992 DOS game and finally the next-gen version game (also set for release in 2023) called the Bloody 100th and all of those are either made or published by Microprose. Its crazy isn't it!

The one I remember fondly was the original B-17 Flying Fortress version from the early 90's - I had it on the Amiga. I did play The Mighty 8th some time later on PC but it didn't match the original IMHO. Hopefully at least one of these three or four "new" games does, though! They were set up in my home town of Tetbury (back in the day). They had a small office near the marketplace and a warehouse on the edge of the town, where they used to bin games in a skip every so often.
I did a little work experience there and they gave me free games for my efforts.
Lovely bit of nostalgia, thanks for posting.

Gunship was ace (once you got your head around controlling the collective on a keyboard).
Was it Stealth Fighter that came with paper maps showing enemy bases and missile locations? If so, I remember spending ages carefully marking on missile ranges with a pencil and compass to help plot attack routes.

F-19 Stealth Fighter was a brilliant game. Played for hours on the Atari ST. They also published Civilisation and a couple of brilliant Rainbird games, Midwinter and its sequel, Flames of Freedom. Best football game of the time was Sensible Soccer IMHO. It was really fast (like Speedball 2) and got the adrenaline going!

Loved F-19, and Midwinter. They're doing a game called Tiny Football, at first glance at the screenshots it looks a lot like Sensi Soccer/SWOS.Gassing Station | Video Games | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
