Imagine that you have been given the keys to a vault containing all the TV programmes ever made & have been selected to produce a Saturday nights viewing.
So, from six o’ clock, the scheduling is all yours... what would you show.

Only one key factor...family viewing until the 9pm watershed.

321 . Updated prizes, and a host who preferably isn't mainstream.

thumbup Some great choices
Used to enjoy the original format of Scrapheap.
Scrappy racers too... “ Propper Jobb”.

Big Break: Simple game but Jim Davidson & John Virgo were a good combo.
Ahhh... 321 ( Classic brain fodder).
Good ‘ol Noel & JC too.

Yeah it'd have to be OG Scrapheap and not the later ones.

I was tempted to go full nerd and sneak an episode of Robot Wars in there too, maybe in place of the Simpsons and Fresh Prince

Agree with all those so far but we need a decent film post 10pm. Nothing you need to think about too deeply so a slice of Arnie or Bruce Willis blowing stuff up and then giving it a one-liner.

Plus or Minus a late Horror, ideally Hammer House style.

I'd throw in a variety show of sorts, I used to love Paul Daniels as a kid.

Morecambe & Wise, Two Ronnies, Vic & Bob (Shooting stars maybe?)

I used to love The Planet of the Apes TV series in the mid-1970s. No idea if it was actually any good though. That in the early eve and The Prisoner on last thing when I've had a few and am nearly ready for bed. Another vote for Gladiators too. After Planet of the Apes probably.

I have to say that my guilty Saturday Night TV pleasure is Blankety Blank. They all look like they are having a right laugh making it, the prizes are dreadful, and no one is taking themselves too seriously. It has a slightly ‘off script’ feel to it as well. I laugh more at the 30 mins of chaos in BB than i do at programmes that are actually supposed to be funny.

Re: Planet of the Apes ( 1970’s)

I can remember a sort of hierarchy between them;

Orang Utans: Government / Officials
Gorillas: Army.
(Used to find them quite scary & intimidating, with no respect for any of the laws...looked down on EVERYBODY).

Chimpanzees: Working / middle class
(Everybody loved Galen & his wife)

Us: Basically ‘subhuman’ / slaves.

Can't not have a Western; Alias Smith & Jones, Bonanza, The Virginian, Casey Jones (a-steamin' an' a-rollin'), Rawhide, High Chaparral... I'm sure there were many more.
