I don't know - but I got a one-week ban for posting a link to a video where a motorbike rider got a very hurty leg (I didn't realise at the time that he had been quite badly injured).

On that basis I can't see how it would be OK to post links to videos of, say, mid-air collisions leading to multiple fatalities.

If you don't like it then report the post and let the mods do their thing.

Thanks for the clarification.

I posted a video of the recent B17/P63 crash at a US airshow: I hope I'm not in trouble for it (others have posted similar videos/different angles on the same thread) but please delete it if it breaks the rules.

I understand your rules are your rules, but in my defence the video was also available on the main news page of the BBC news website...

Do you want individual reports for the videos on the Amazingly cool and interesting plane footage thread or will you review and prune it yourselves?

Don't worry, we'll only take action against a member on something like this if rules are repeatedly broken.

We don't proactively moderate the forums and rely on reports to take action, so if you're able to report any posts that you feel breach our rules of posting, that would be very helpful thank you.

This is oft trotted out, but when it is clear that moderators have been commenting on (and thus obviously reading) threads that subsequently have moderation action taken it sticks in the craw somewhat.

If the moderator is not offended until something is reported then it should be the case that the threshold for moderation action has not been reached.

It should really be ‘we don’t proactively moderate all threads, all the time’ but of course, most moderators are forum users as well, so look at threads and forums and see things as they go that require moderator input.

If its safe enough for the BBC to show then it should be safe enough here.

Does that mean PH should allow unrestricted effing and blinding after 9pm? Maybe a batch job that runs at 5am to autodonk bad words from the previous night?

The BBC coverage I saw, stopped a couple of frames before the impact, then showed wreckage from the tail section on the ground.

Glad to hear it, but I got a ban after a single event so that doesn’t appear to be how it works in practice.

It depends on the severity of the issue/rule that's broken, some get a warning first whereas others are a suspension.
