Can anyone advise me please how to open this wiring clip on my 2005 VW Polo? Its on the back of the Alternator.

I'm not used to working on VW's and my poking at it as yet hasn't resulted in being able to extricate the wires. It doesn't seem to have a 'Latch' that I can flip up.

Thanks Folks !!

I don't recognise it and the pic is too dark to make out any details, but the outline looks similar to those ghastly blue Scotchlok IDC connectors and I wonder whether it's a grown up version of those. In that case you might find the housing is a sort of clamshell where one half latches over the other - if so you need to pry the latch up with a small screwdriver or similar.

Normally as above, you push the tab away from the ratchet teeth and then pulll it up.

I have come across some similar looking ones that don't seem to be designed to open & found that sliding the top half out of the bottom part with a bit of force gets them open.

Thanks everyone, I'll post a pic if I get it open.

Hope so, else it'll have to stay on its bit of temporary rope / be bolted up loosely to a mount

Wet here today, so no progress, job is suspected Burnt Valve

Next mystery will be 'Is the oil leak really coming from Pot 1 Spark Plug hole.... oooh-err!

First thought was Timing Chain Cover, then next was Rings

....but the former 'no', gave it a clean up and a last run on its two good 2 pots, not a drop.

...and that latter, can't be, that's the one pot that's got excellent compression and I've heard piston slap (a Vauxhall Viva many moons ago - put me off the Griffin for life). The other two are 9 Bar and 1 Bar respectively.

One of my first tasks when it dries up

Photo doesn't demonstrate it very well really

Anyone got one of these that runs with the BMD lump in it, might be wanting one; specially if I find a hole in the top of the piston.... (I'm thinking no, but won't know for sure til the head's off)

Only 90k on it, now where was that thread talking about VW sh.... erm, rubbish!
