Jaguar XK8 Project Car.
Discussion
Hello.
My dad has an XK8 for sale.
He bought it running, and then discovered over time, it needed some attention.
There was a rattle in the engine.
He replaced the chain and guides.
The rattle was still present, and he concluded that it was the big end bearing.
He then decide to buy an AJ27 engine to swap over.
He then discovered it need the aircon pipes replacing, the aircon regassing, welding needed in the passenger front footwell, and a respray due to flakey paint.
It has sat for years under a caravan tarpaulin, and he is past the idea of fixing it.
The car cost him £2000, and he will take no less than £1500.
He also wants his £400 back that he paid for the AJ27 engine.
With time, money, know how, and energy, this could be restored back to showroom condition.
Obviously it will cost more if the restoration is handed completely over to a garage.
When it was running it was an absolute beast of a car.
To the untrained eye, a luxurious wolf in sheep's clothing.
Thanks for your time.
Andy.
