How do you do it?

I need some help and guidance regards what I sohuld be doing with my finances, a couple of pensions etc...

I'm firmly in the 'path of englightenment' regards to my personal finances - so the idiots guides and free information found widley on the net is not much good. Theres lots of good generic info out there for those who know nothing - I dont need that. I have some specific questions and queries.

I'm smart enough to know where my limits and happy to pay.

I used the service at https://www.unbiased.co.uk/ hoping to get in touch with somewhere local I could go and pop in - unfortunately all that seems to do is share your details with some giant corporation with a flash website.

I want to find a qualified, trustworth financial expert, who I can go see, sit down with a load of notes, show them various accounts etc.

How do I find someone to trust? What makes them trustworthy? Do I just go and ask on facebook and let everyone tag their brothers sisters mum who is really good innit? And how much should I be paying?

What stops me being in the same position as a friends parents who have had to sell up and downsize as they hit their 60s, realize they having nothing for their retirement and are blaming it all on bad advice when they were my age?

Not being an idiot and taking some responsibility for your future.

Recommendations from people whose opinions you trust would also help.

If you only have a few questions then you could always post them up on here.

Maybe just have a chat with a local one that provides the services you require and let them tell you what they can do for you.

I find this video is pretty good at answer your question:

I work with an IFA whom I've known for about 15 years; I now help some of his clients with foreign currency exposure and I know he does hold annual reviews (face-to-face) with some of them.
