A320 collides with vehicle
Discussion
Fire truck drove straight into the path of it. Looks grim for anyone inside the vehicle. Hopefully a better outcome for all onboard the plane.

This is a WTF! "Don't clean the spray off me, get a selfie and post quick sharp. We could be first for this, don't worry about getting away or helping anyone else"
The plane looks reasonable intact, so hopefully that's a good sign for the passengers/crew.

Seeing that last picture it seems incredible that the wing could clear the firetruck intact... I imagine that if we had a 737 instead of the 320 it would probably have directly struck it with a much different outcome.
Authorities affirm that all people on board have survived, with 27 slight injured. Sadly the 2 firefighters on-board the truck perished in the collision.

Jesus wept.
Going to be very interesting reading the report on this one when it’s complete. Fundamentally though it should be second nature to check left and right before entering or crossing any runway, even if you have a clearance to cross from ATC.
Looks like the fire crew noticed too late, as they clearly appeared to be attempting avoiding action.
I feel sorry for the Airbus pilots, they were going a fair old lick but essentially other than initiating an RTO, they simply have no real options to do anything to avoid the fire truck. You cannot simply swerve something such as that like you can a car. They probably saw the accident happening before the fire crew even saw the aircraft.

I flew in and out of Lima a few times this month. Its one sketchy place, IME. We flew Latam and SKY. Latam seemed a bit more professional but how we did not have a tail strike on one flight I will never know. Plus people on their phones (i.e on a call) during take off and landing, no safety briefing on one flight too. Just fired it up and off we went.
The only thing that put my mind at rest at the time was that the aircraft we were flying on were all fairly new, the NEO is really popular in Peru / S.America.
They were just so lucky that they were not sent airborne as it would have just been a total disaster.
I also note that the starboard number 1 slide looks to have failed to deploy.

Also a good way of letting your friends & family, who know you're on that flight, know you're ok...This is a WTF! "Don't clean the spray off me, get a selfie and post quick sharp. We could be first for this, don't worry about getting away or helping anyone else"

Shame to hear of the 2 Fireman. Looking at the video it is fortunate that most made it away from the accident alive.

Pointing out crass behaviour when 2 people have just died and many more injured is now outrage. Funny old World.

Having just survived an airplane "crash, fire and emergency evacuation" without knowing what happened or why is probably a reason the vast majority of people would cut these people some slack, unless your outrage (sorry, "pointing out crass behaviour") won't let you of course as I know when you obviously survived your airplane crash, fire and emergency evacuation to give you your own experience of such a horrific event, you reacted far differently didn't you Shame to hear of the 2 Fireman. There is now a video from the inside looking over the right wing, the impact is seriously hard. From the looks of it the plane was around half way or just past half way down the runway so would have been probably not far off airborne. You can see the new tower and all the building work on the right which I believe is the new terminal.
Also some people are saying the ATC confirmed for the rescue vehicles to cross the runway possibly not expecting them to be in the position they were due to their speed, so it was basically a situation where the ATC thought they were further away from the runway than what they actually were, which of course is poor judgement but I guess that will come out in the report.
