So got my car home last night. Its a year old and imported from outside the EU (Ukraine).

Am I right thinking it will need to pass a "basic IVA" in order to register it in the UK ? And also that it will fail as the speedometer is calibrated in Km/h only? Anything else I should watch out for ?

And if its just the speedometer how difficult is it to replace the dial? Seems like one or two companies specialise in producing new dials but the information is not huge on how to remove the existing instrument pod and so the dial behind is limited for someone like me.

Thanks for reading and any tips/thoughts/help gratefully received.

My only experience buying cars from Japan, the importer I used would add the foglight, change the odo to miles and then fit a converter behind the cluster that would convert the speedo to read in miles. You then get a certificate showing this change has been done before it's 1st MOT in the UK.

Guessing you've searched the google for dash removals? Not sure on which year yours is but found this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aROcwvun2Bw

Can’t you just put a sticker with MPH in the right place over the dial?

I've done it for cars older than 3 years but from the EU. The 3 main things you'll need are a MPH speedo, not just stickers at various speeds, headlights that dip the right way and an offside foglight. You'll then need a garage to sign it off.
