And oh so accurate!
Back in those halcyon days of 2011/12 before all we knew in life was division and hatred, we started up the Winter thread on ph. One of the themes were my semi regular posts of trying to get home from Switzerland. This frequently entailed exactly the use of planes, trains and automobiles as I had to cross between Gen and Zur depending on which was snowed in or not. Then drive back from Heathrow or get the train home from
Brum. All of it frequently with unintended comedy such that my life was often referred to as the plot from the film.
Strangely - I rather miss those days! I also had more hair and it was less grey.

Sadly the recent 4K DVD release is getting bad reviews for picture quality

Will Smith and Kevin Hart are due to appear in a remake. Oh dear, some things should be left alone.

This.

Leave the original alone. Please. The remake will be too hip, too on-trend, too sweary and too 'cool'. And be all the worse for it.

It's my favourite of all the John Hughes 80s films.
Everyone goes on about Ferris Bueller, but I've always found it a bit depressing.

Two minds about this, I watch Planes, Trains... every year around this time, it's almost the perfect comedy with all the right comedic ingredients and that sweet eye-moistening ending - It is lovely and short though, it's one of its strengths how tightly constructed it is, something that is so rare in films especially these days... So whilst i'd definitely watch this version with the extra footage, and i'm sure there's some great extra stuff in there (there has to be with this level of talent surely) - It is hard to imagine it really improving on the perfection of the 90 minute version.

As for the remake, no, just no.

That sort of genius doesn't appear in movie world these days.

Sum it up - "It's a film about five kids stuck in a room for a few hours. Sounds dull but..."

Its not like its spliced in and colour corrected so as not to look like from a different film . That would be hard work. Its just the scenes on a seperate disk as far as I can tell.
