BMW 330d alternatives

Hi all,

Currently running a 330d, four years old. Doing less mileage now than I used to going from 20k a year down to 10k over last two years.. Was considering a 2L petrol, not a fan of hybrids and want to wait before going full electric.

Options I thought about included used approved Seat Leon Cupra estate, Audi SQ2, BMW 330i/X2m351, Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce.

Or possibly a new Hyundai Kona N/Skoda Octavia VRS.

Appreciate any thoughts re these options/any other ideas.

Why change?
I have a 6 year old 335d and doing much lower mileage, like you. I see no point changing until a decent full electric comes along.

Usually I don’t see the point in changing as it will be cheaper to just replace the DPF compared to what you’ll get hit on trade in.

I’m a massive fan of the 330/335d so would be reluctant to change.

If you do switch I’d recommend the Cupra Leon estate.

Does everything the BMW does but with better dynamics and a more fun drive. Should get 40mpg out of it if your sensible.

I think if move from your 30d to a 20 petrol you'll struggle with the lack of power!

Quite like my 330i F31 estate, handles well and practical. Fast enough for day to day driving.

I was doing low miles and went from a 330d to a Ghibli V6 S.
Made every mile, fast and slow, a more enjoyable experience.

A 340i has to be a contender if you like the 3 series package. One of the all time great engines.

How much are you looking to spend on the replacement, at 10k a year you're still doing miles so is there a need to change?

Thanks for all the comments. I was looking to spend up to around circa £30k or more potentially, if I make a switch. Yes the 330d is a good car, market seems bonkers at the moment.

If spending 30+k I think I'd be looking for more than 4 cylinders.

Buy a 340i like I did today. Absolutely sublime car that covers every base from being quiet and refined to punchy and stealth.

Every gadget going from adaptive suspension to head up display.
