It’s the old chestnut of a seized calliper pin. Unfortunately it’s on my mates girlfriends Chevrolet Spark / Daewoo Matiz, for which used parts are like rocking horse poo.

I’ve tried all the usual tricks, including copious amounts of foul language, but the bugger is stuck fast.

I now need to kill it with heat.

Which begs the question, which butane / propane burner kicks out the biggest bang per buck? Which one on a budget is going to get a calliper bracket glowing cherry red?

I look forward to your safe advice smile

Don't know if it is the answer to your question, but I have used one of these for many such tasks.

If you want to get something really hot, you want MAPP gas, not propane or butane.

^ this, MAPP gas is the answer, far hotter than butane or propane alone.

Mapp with the surefire torch is a great combo, not cheap initially but a great addition to your toolbox if you spanner a lot.

I swallowed the cost of the Rothenberger MAPP torch for a pesky stuck bolt, and it has been incredibly useful ever since. One of those purchases that seemed expensive, but still cheaper than taking it to a garage, so the man-maths adds up. Highly recommended!
