I know there was a discussion regarding this on the forum, but I can’t find it so decided to start a new thread.

After a lot of research I decided to fit the wireless Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto kit to my car myself as I was not prepared to pay the huge fitting prices people are charging.

My car is a coupe, so can’t comment on how to do it in the convertible, but the whole process took me less than 2 hours to complete the fitting.

So if anyone is interested in how to do it please let me know.

I had it fitted in my Vanquish a few weeks ago by AM Performance.

My 1st annoying observation was that Waze & Google maps would constantly lock up. I was connecting the Android phone via a cable to one of the USB sockets, there is a dedicated one for Carplay. At the time, the wireless dongle hadn't arrived in time for me going back to France.
However, I eventually spent time searching through Android Auto on my phone and found that there is a setting for wireless, this was set on my phone and may have been the problem as I was using the cable.

I picked up the dongle this week, but we're in the Range, so I can't try it out until we get back home. Hopefully it will work with my new found info'.

One other problem is that there is no way to change the clock time between the gauges, nor on the main screen, when Android Auto isn't running. A minor gripe as I always use it and the screen time is correct with it in use.

I'll update when I've had another go with it.

Update. The dongle doesn't work with Android, so that was a waste of money.
I'll try the non wireless connection next time I'm out and see what happens.

Finally, it works without locking up the Waze or Google maps screen.
The trick was to switch off the wireless setting in Android Auto on the phone. Simple as that. Pity that info' wasn't in the instructions.
