Holders of a certain US stock found their holding had disappeared overnight from their Hargrave Landsdown accounts. Looks like it may be linked to the severe situation that JP Morgan finds itself in.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the severe situation JP Morgan is in?

Healthy to be sitting on $57Trillion in derivatives? Or just unhealthy for the taxpayer who'll be funding the next bailout?

HL>CREST for US stocks>CREST owned by Euroclear>Euroclear developed and funded by JP Morgan>JP Morgan biggest holder of unregulated derivatives in what is obviously an extremely precarious time

Their terrible quarterly earnings where they beat analysts expecations?

"Earnings: $3.12 a share, beating the $2.88 estimate of analysts surveyed by Refinitiv.
Revenue: $33.49 billion, exceeding the $32.1 billion estimate."

Why do you think one specific stock - a US stock - disappeared from HL portfolios?

Actually just to add, it seems HL are having problems with many US stocks.

Maybe but you never know.........

Lehman reported record profits every year from 2005 to 2007. In 2007, it announced $4.2 billion in net income on $19.3 billion in revenue.

"Our capital position at the moment is strong."
-- Former Lehman Brothers CFO Ian Lowitt, five days before the firm filed for bankruptcy on September 15, 2008

Derivatives have nothing to do with revenue and profit.

They are financial instruments which alter with market prices.

I might argue against the 'nothing' here

but my point was merely that good news, positive reports on earnings etc etc don't always mean things are rosey or will stay rosey long.

Is it true that they have been used since the 2008 crash as a vehicle to carry the debt, and that the 2008 crash never really went away because of this?

You are so wrong. I think they haven’t stolen ENOUGH shares - hence no bonuses.
