Breaking the Speed limit - Hands Up
Discussion
I generally try to adhere to the speed limits nowadays, there’s nothing to be gained by busting them.
30 limits are always adhered to. They’re there for a reason and as a pedestrian it isn’t hard to tell which drivers haven’t got the basic courtesy to drive within the limit around you.
60 limits I will usually adhere to, however I use my judgement on whether it’s safe to nudge a little over on occasion. Depends entirely on the road, hazards and conditions.

Honestly????
On the motorway I'll set cruise to 79mph which I reckon gives me a decent invisibility cloak if theres an unmarked car around as many go faster and I'd feel hard done by to be busted by a speed camera
Anywhere else I really do drive at the speed limit if not slightly below
The difference between 40 and 45 in the real world is inconsequential and there could be a random camera or speed check just about anywhere
Cheers
In UK I used to do 130 miles per day plus quite a bit of work mileage and, in my youth, I exceed 100mph every day. Everywhere I went I speeded. In 20ish years I got 3 tickets @ 3 points and £60/100/Naughty boy course. I considered that good value at the time.
Since then the roads got too busy with too many electronic policemen. I got oldish (42), got a wife, got a dog and slowed down in the UK.
However, I drive to the Costa Blanca two or three times a year, plus other European tours inbetween. The roads are like going back in time if you have the knowledge to pick an appropriate route and time. As a result, I tend to sit at 180kph or so on the motorways. A telepeage tag means the police leave you alone at the peages and the cameras are easy to spot, especiallyif you use satnav. If you get zapped it's a fine and they can't take your license, but in years of doing it I haven't missed a camera yet.
Pre 2016 I used to ignore the cameras and on occasions outrun the crappy French diesel police vans, especially if I was on the bike, but I've grown up a little bit since then (and DVLA now share information).
So yeah, used to speed here, still speed there.

I can't and won't come to terms with the outdated thinking that 70 is a limit worth paying attention to much of the time. It's a pathetic adherence to values from a bygone era and any modern vehicle is capable of exceeding it safely in the correct circumstances when driven by anyone who is capable of independent thought, and an interest in the matter at hand.
I'm sure that the " modern " Pistonheaders will react in strenuous terms to this lack of political correctness, but I'm past giving a f
k about the fake outrage and lack of reason that appears to be the backbone of the current generation. Other than having to be constantly aware that the consequences of being caught are draconian, 100 in the right circumstances isn't even vaguely taxing in reality.

Set it to 78, 79 is the threshold at which you become fair game. Either accept that and don't feel hard done by, or get caught for a sheep rather than a lamb and set it to 90.On the motorway I'll set cruise to 79mph which I reckon gives me a decent invisibility cloak if theres an unmarked car around as many go faster and I'd feel hard done by to be busted by a speed camera

For me, i believe there is a time and a place. Built up areas, schools, busy roads, etc, is a big no no for me. On the other hand, early morning on a sweeping well sighted road with good visibility, or empty duel carriageway / motorway, crack on. It comes down to common sense for me, or lack of shown by the idiots around here who do 50+ down the 30 at school kick out time.
