Euro 5b

Hi guys.

Did a search but not much coming up. Was looking at a 2015 diesel and it’s euro 5b.

What’s the difference between this and euro 5? Can something be applied for to pass the ULEZ?

For my Euro 3 petrol car, I've found that the England & Wales ULEZ schemes view it as compliant, presumably based on the type approval emissions data as found on the V5 e.g. NOx<0.08g/km. However, it looks like the upcoming Scottish schemes will just require Euro 4/6 with no workaround for compliant earlier cars. So I'd start by seeing what the requirements of the ULEZ schemes are that you are interested in - some, like the E&W government checker, allow you to type the registration number in to check compliance.

If you are only interested in the London scheme, then yes. However, if your username is "irish boy" and your profile says you are based in Northern Ireland, then perhaps not?

Cheers guys, I think it’s sensible to hold out for a 2016 model which are euro 6. I don’t particularly need it but it opens up a wider range of buyers when the time to see comes.

I did the same years ago when I bought my diesel estate, bought a slightly newer one so that it was euro6 and would be unaffected by CAZs. I bought a Mercedes E class and although it is 2014 it is Euro 6.

ULEZ is specific to London. There might be other areas with clean air restrictions, but the OP specificially mentioned ULEZ.

As said it doesn’t particularly affect me as I don’t travel into the zone enough times to worry about the cost, it’s more the audience when sale time inevitably comes round.
