The driver's side wing mirror on our 2007 Cayenne no longer demists. So I've bought replacement heated mirror unit. EVERY replacement heated mirror unit for Cayenne 2002-2010 online looks like this, with the 2 prongs for the heater element connection on the top right:

However, this is what the mirror currently connected to my car looks like:

Note that it have a 4 way plug with 2 additional leads soldered to a connection on the back of the mirror.

What's the deal? Any videos I can find on replacement just show the original mirror as having just 2 connections. You can even see that the black plastic moulding are identical, with the clip for the 4 way plug and also clips to hold the additional leads, but nothing to connect them 2. I can't find any mirrors online (and there are hundreds of sellers) that look like my current mirror in picture 2.

Any ideas?

Does yours have the auto dimming function? Not sure if that’s why just a possibility.

Not that I'm aware of. The passenger mirror has auto dip for when reversing but that would be for the motor, not the glass.

It's possible that the auto dimming has failed the same as the demister, so I haven't noticed it. Will have to check the codes. A replacement auto dimming mirror is ~£500 rofl

Is the 29.08.16 a date on the white sticker? If so it's not an original part.

955 731 056 04 is indeed auto dim, just cut those wires and use the 2 heated ones only, as you say, correct one is well over £600 with VAT

I didn't notice it doing anything last night when I turned the rear view mirror dimming on and off.
