Absolute legend, 79 is no age. Thank you for the music and RIP.

I’ll be blasting out Fleetwood Mac this evening.

I’m a massive fan of the rumours era of Fleetwood Mac. Spotify just told me today that I’m in the top 1% of global FM listeners which is a bit of a shocker.

I was only saying recently that I hadn’t seen them on the tele recently and we should expect to hear that maybe one would be passing soon. I’d have put money on it being Mick though.

RIP songbird.

Powerhouse of Fleetwood Mac. She added so so much to them, irreplaceable and amazing voice. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Sad to just see this. Against my better judgment (I thought at the time), I got dragged to see the band at a reunion tour in the early 2000s… they were astonishingly accomplished. Another great gone in a growing list this year.

Why would you say Mick? He's only 75 and fit as a fiddle.
'Ex'- F Mac man Lindsey Buckingham would not have been such a big surprise with his heart attack and surgery in 2019.
He was touring solo very recently here in the UK but cancelled the rest of his UK and Euro tour it due to ill health, so yeah, if it was to have been anyone I'd have thought him. Even though he'd left, he's still a real part of them.
As for her era of FM, Christine had more than one era with them.

Anyway, just posted in The Lounge where the RIP celeb thread is running.
Christine was superb from the start of her career, not just in Fleetwood Mac.

I've watched FM and bought all their records (that's all of its incarnations over the years) and of course 'Chicken Shack' (her first band) from the beginning of both bands in 1967.

This is truly fitting, her superb voice on her first real hit, with Chicken Shack in 1969, after which she then joined F Mac after Greenie left.

RIP and condolences to all her family, and also to all the band members, not forgetting John McVie (her first hubby and long term bandmate).

Yeah meant the Rumours era. Corrected.
Was in a bit of shock.
Why Mick? He always looked so frail and sickly lol.
Hope he lives to 110.

Grown up with Fleetwood Mac and thought they have always been fantastic. Lucky enough to see them live around 10 years ago in Leeds and it's a night I'll never forget.

RIP Chrisine

Became a fan in my teens when Little Lies was released. The intro always makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck. Finally got to see them live in Leeds in 2015. I believe it was their first tour after Christine returned to the band and, obviously, before Lindsey Buckingham left, so probably the most complete line up. Such a privilege. RIP.

Very sad, I always considered Chris to be a very classy women with a unique timbre to her voice.

She always came over as very grounded and down to earth person for such a huge rock star. Born in the tiny hamlet of Bouth, South Lakes, Cumbria, a place I know very well.

Seeing the headline on the Beeb's web page was one of those "aw, damn" moments.

I thought John McVie was the most likely.

I agree that she's a legend, but I think 79 isn't no age. Not exactly taken in your prime. It's a year off 80, which I think isn't a bad run. Could be longer, but could have been a hell of a lot less. I'm 60. I think I'd take 80 today if offered. Might change my mind when I'm 79 and a half though!

Me too. I think it’s bigger news than the main news outlets are giving it credit, seeing as she was part of the biggest band in the world for a time.

Due to music snobbery I never got into them at that time. It’s only in recent years I’ve realised what I was missing out on.

A couple of great watches on iPlayer for anyone who hasn't already seen them - first is a relatively recently concert, the second focuses on Christine, made a few years ago.
