Parking ticket question...
Discussion
Hi
Got 2 parking tickets at the weekend, wondered if anyone could advise me as to whether to contest or pay...
Went to Manchester. Never go into cities, think Kaleb Cooper in London and you'll be on the right lines.
Found what I thought was a lovely parking space. Turns out you have to pay for them. Ignorance is not so bliss.
The on street parking had no signs to say I needed to pay in fairness, and when I checked back on Google Streetview, there used to be a sign there.

I have put numbers on what I think may be relevant on the google maps screen shot. I was parked where the white Merc is.
1 - sign on lamp post dictating parking restrictions is no longer there (I have a picture)
2 – gap between bays. Bay I parked in was on for 2 cars, the main road is on the left of the picture but cut out.
3 – where there is a sign giving parking restrictions. Long way from where I was parked. Also next to the bays in front of where I parked
4 – one way street so did not drive past sign stating parking restrictions
Worth appealing? Is there a set distance that a sign should be distance wise relevant to a parking space?
Cheers

If there is a gap between bays, then each bay should have at least one sign. If its a long bay then there would be more signs for that bay. Have you got the pictures the CEO took? As it would be interesting to see which sign they've taken a picture of
HiThank you for your reply. Both of the tickets have pictures upload on the portal, but only 1 of the tickets has a picture of the sign. The sign they have used is by my number 3, up by the blue van. The lamp posts have numbers on and the picture shows it is number 6, the two in my picture are 1 and 2.
Thanks

I would be inclined to post this on Pepipoo.
I'm going to agree with this, I've just had a look on Google maps and I am only seeing 1 machine on each side of the road, so if there's no sign pointing you to the machine, and no sign in the bay with any restriction listed, then how are you supposed to know? Post up the details on Pepipoo and someone on there will know better. When I did on-street parking we didn't have P&D bays, it was all free limited waiting bays, so if a bay was missing a sign, (or is was too badly defaced) we didn't issue PCNs (just like us, drivers tend not to have crystal balls either!)
