I had a feeling, that from mid-November to each year end, there often seems to be a rIse in the equity market (indices).

Quickly glancing through eighteen annual charts, revealed about two thirds up during the final 6 or 7 weeks and one third either down, or about level. The first three years were all down (dot com bubble).

Any ideas why ?

Quite a mad thought, but could some funds be late buyers of the successful stocks of the year, so they can show in their annual reports, that they held the best performing shares?

It's a good claim. 'We have the best-performing stocks of 2022! We just didn't buy them until 31 Dec'.
