It struck me whilst out for a drive today, that many people out there give the thumbs up on my car being driven, and its in a generally posiitve way.

I dont always notice people doing this, simply because i'm concentrating on the road ahead, and keeping it on the black stuff.

Now that had me thinking, I should be acknowledging their appreciation and saying thank you for the tumbs up; but if I dont notice this happening, and my passenger only informs me after the event, then it could be constued as me being aloof and ignorant.

This is most definately not the case, and if I do notice a thumbs up, I usually look to let the person doing so know i've seen and say thank you.

If I miss your acknowledgement, then genuinely its because i missed it, not ignored you.

In summary,

I'm not ignoring you honest.

Cool, what car do you pedal?

Only asking cos I gave the thumbs up to a really cool looking orange three wheeler this morning, and the driver ignored me. Dunno what it was but it looked a bit like a wedge of cheese, if you know what I mean, same shape.

I was in the white Audi A1. Hi.

I once drove back to our site a trade in, a Reliant Robin. I had drivers smiling and giving the thumbs up but had a feeling it was more of a p1ss take..
Having said that though the phone didn't stop ringing on it once valeted and advertised...biggrin

Amazingly, the “keeping it on the black stuff” is the most cringey phrase. But there’s lots to choose from here.

Followed closely by “my passenger only informs me after the event” - another howler.
