Tale of caution
Discussion
Couple of weeks ago I ordered a new Mahle Condenser from a well known online car parts company. Finally showed up today and was well packaged etc, to the point actually I wasn't going to bother opening and checking it till I was ready to fit it at some point. Anyway luckily I checked it and the pipework and flange arrangement on the side of the compressor has took a dunt which has bent it out of shape and kinked the pipe (enough to crack the black paint coating off it). On further inspection the inner box has greasy hand prints and marks so it looks like it has been a return that has been sent back out to the next unsuspecting buyer.
Contacted the customer service with decent pics etc and asked for a replacement to be sent and they came back saying they had inspected the pics and deemed the part fine to be used and they could offer me a small partial refund as compensation.
Now I KNOW how I've ended up with it, greasy hand print box and all.
A strong email reply pointing out the kinked aluminium pipe would either be already burst or would most likely fail spectacularly as soon as 250psi or more went through it I can pretty much guarantee will fall on deaf ears ( you know what I mean).
So there you go folks, there really doesn't seem to be a reputable company out there
Just to add, they have now said they will decide if it'll be a refund or replacement once it arrives back for inspection. Think I'm done with these foreign car parts places., They're not even that cheap now
