HRD to LHD Vantage v8 conversion
Discussion
Hi, Excuse my English, I write from Italy.
I'm new to the forum, but as I did before buying lotus elise s1, LHD Original. I read a lot about the forum. In 1996 internet was not widespread, I tried to get to know the machine slowly. Now I know her perfectly
The Vantage V8, in Italy also costs £7,000.00 more than the prices I've seen on Pistonheads sales. But the worst thing is that you can't find a model with the right miles and the right color.. And the right price. Only in Germany there seems to be a good market but not like in England.
I seek silver color, Meteorite, manual if possible, I'm not sure about the Aston automatic transmission. I don't trust
I sent the various sellers on pistonheads this message
You Aston martin vantage v8 owners, can you tell me if there is a good specialist who converts your vantage from RHD to LHD? Thanks for your support.

AM Works in Newport Pagnell are now pretty familiar with the Gaydon VH cars and would very likely be able to do it, as would maybe one or two of the better UK specialists in the midlands.
However, the cost is likely to be absolutely eye-watering. There will be many components to change or relocate, and not just the usual rack, dash etc. The fuse box under the (RHD) passenger floor would need to be swapped out for the LHD pedal box, and so on.
These cars arent like the the heritage models which are relatively commonly and changed as the (relative) simplicity of those cars and their value can easily justify the cost. For the modern cars, sold globally in relatively high numbers, I could not see how a conversion would be worth it. I think you've answered your own question really, find a car, preferably at an AM dealer in the bigger EU markets of Germany, Holland and France and do the relatively simple intra-EU re-registration. Save your conversion cash to sort out any issues you find or for the common exhaust, clutch and suspension upgrades which do transform the car.
I understand that registration and insurance costs and taxes are very high in Italy for this type of car, there are members on here who live in Italy but leave their cars registered in France for that reason. If you live close enough to the French or Austrian borders this may be an option for you - Good luck.

Your reasoning is right. I thought about the conversion because some friends converted the elise s1. But there is only a steering wheel and a pedal set. Cheap cost. Thank you. Prices in Switzerland are lower than in Germany. See you when I buy Aston. Meanwhile, thank you
can be yes, but do not forget Swiss is EU but not EU something like that, so it could mean you have to pay a very high extra tax...maybe Italy is different, but here in the Netherlands you have to pay again 21% BTW tax, plus rest BPM on Co2 per gram bases till up to 17 years from new.
so best look that up first before you go shopping in Swiss.
Yes, there are taxes to pay.
It is always convenient, save money and find a v8 vantage at a low price with good miles.
Plenty of choice in Switzerland. Even if you pay taxes you save at least a 4/5000,00 € I kid you not.
Do I prefer to pay € 2,000.00 in taxes? I do not know how much, but have a vantage with certified km and a lot of choice of color and equipment.
Thank you

Ciao Buzzi77, I am Italian too.
To buy a car in Ch, doesn't seem like a big deal to me.
You must pay 22% Iva.
If you do the math, the final price will be very close with Italian price.
If you add, the Italian Bureaucracy, the wast of time, the lower value the car will have in future ..... i don't think this is the right way, unless you really find a car at bargain price

It is true you have to pay VAT at 22%, for bureaucratic tasks you rely on agency you spend even more. But the second example of aston that I listed in Italy you pay at least With that km is year at least 60/6500.00 €.
Nice to meet an Italian lover aston. What model do you have? Are you feeling good.? Hello

I was doing some calculations right now.... Are you sure you pay VAT at 22% to bring cars from Switzerland to Italy? We are the country with the highest costs for luxury cars To buy a car in Ch, doesn't seem like a big deal to me.
