Just a thought, I've seen people oil the pistons on these and they become useless. Have you tried giving the piston a wipe, perhaps its just too slippery?

I got one from my TVR dealer, £26.91 incl VAT. My dealer's in Belfast so no use to you, but worth trying those nearest you?

There was another thread on Griffith pages recently, which had details on a manufacturer/distributor. I think they were in Leicester but could be wrong about that.

BB got two bling bling stainless ones - around £40 each although he hasn't told me the exact price yet. Got them from RS Components.
Assume the Chim ones are identical to thre Griff.

Chim and Griff struts are different - According to the parts man at Castle the Chim ones are longer

Did you know you can get them re-gassed? Took mine to the South Wales TVR CC secretary, who ownes a garage in Swansea and works obviously with TVR's!

Hughesie, I have a spare used one in p.w.o. I thought mine had gone slack because when you close the lid the final 6ins has no support from strut. I bought one from Douglas Valley (along with a boot catch) and discovered I didn't need either! The wire had got snagged on the alum cover because I had bent it 'out the way'. Now the catch works perfect again. I changed the strut and that was just the same as the one I took off! After checking a few other Chims it seemd that they are all like this. So I didn't need it.

Yellow really sets it Of Hughsie well worth the money, Its another quality add on rather than that black tackky looking one (IMHO)

Mmm, quality add on? At least the chunks of angle iron are in keeping with TVR build quality standards.

Got 3 cars at the moment, SLK 320, Chimaera and an Alfa 147, running 3 cars is getting a tad expensive, Soooooooo, though if we got rid of the Alfa nd an the Chim i could get the Cerb for when we do need 4 seats...

I already have a little one, Harry, so thats the need for 4 seats, he's only 4 so he's perfect size for a few more years in the back seat of the Cerbera...

Picked up a new one yesterday (Thanks Rodger) fellow pistonheader had a spare and now it works again i now can enter the boot without fear of it dropping on my head !!
