Powered recliner for parents...

Having just bought the USA parents a seat power recliner set that they wanted as early xmas present (and now I'm 100% convert to reclining comfort).

I need to get the UK parents a couple of power recliners (preferably with that tilt forward function as well).

Has anyone any recommendations where to go? Doesn't seem they are quite as popular in UK as the US... (And probably more expensive in UK due to the requirements for 'electrical safety' and 'EU certification' that the US does not trouble itself with).

Got one from my mother in law sat in the warehouse. Literally cannot give the thing away (fire tag removed/fell off). Super heavy too.

MiL had one from HSL. I thought it expensive and iirc long lead times, but she liked it plus helpful attentive people in the shop.

Yes, resale value is very important to keep in mind when buying for elderly parents!

I bought my dad a nice new Roberts radio about a fortnight before he popped his clogs. I still regret having put long life batteries in it.

I remember the Shackleton's TV ad from when I was a kid. They are still in business and have a range of rising recliners in fabric or leather.

I was diagnosed with a mobility condition back in March of this year and to cut a long story short, have purchased two riser/recliner chairs from Careco (Google them) which are off the shelf and can be delivered the next day.

I have gone for the Oasis Maxi Comfort. They're a big chair (but saying that, I'm a big fat lad) and they have made my life so much easier its unreal. I'm impressed with the quality and they do not break the bank.

I bought one of these for my Dad, actually just the riser version since he needs help standing, at first he thought it was a massive waste of money, 12 months later he never sits anywhere else...

Bought mother an HSL one, cost about 1600 quid I think 3/4 years ago. Had 2/3 repairs on it and recently said they couldn't get a part anymore (a metal bar/support). Currently waiting for another repair.

Saw some new ones on eBay for 500/600 quid, look the same. Morris Living - seem to have good reviews - anybody heard of them ?

Using the specialist suppliers many products for the elderly are over sold, over hyped and over priced.

Before my uncle moved to a care home he needed a riser recliner chair and so I got one form Argos which was a straightforward purchase and importantly a quick delivery.
