Salt water and 12v car batteries - fire?
Discussion
Don’t see how this would cause a fire - does salt water risk a battery fire if a car is parked up?

Would have been more worried about my pride and joy being strapped to the top of an ocean cargo vessel with no protection - would turn to rust before not long!

Salt is conductive, so if salt water covers batteries then as the water evaporates it can leave a conductive film bridge across the terminals that can cause them to short, overheat and then catch fire.
I think you'll find that salt is actually not conductive.ETA though salt water is much more conductive than fresh water.
So sadly only 2/10 for the explanation
