Ok, I'm laughing whilst I write this because it's such a stupid question but when in doubt PH is always the place to turn!

I have recently decided to grow a beard. I bought a Panasonic beard trimmer that goes from 0.5 to 10mm. I started at about 6mm and each time I shaved I went up 0.5mm so that I had an even look to the beard whilst it grew.

I'm now about to go beyond on the 10mm length and not sure what to do next. As I said, I want an even look to the beard and like most people some parts of the beard grow faster than others...so what I need is a trimmer that goes way beyond 10mm

The ones I have found after researching seem to say 0-10mm for beard and they also do 10mm to 20+ with attachments but they say that's for hair.

Any of you bearded wonders out there able to point me in the right direction of what I need please?

This is the one I have....

Thanks, but even that only goes to 15mm?

I'm not at 15mm yet but want to buy one product that will see me through.

Cheers

You need to let it do its thing.
Keep it oiled, keep it clean and it’ll look neater while you go through the early stages.

Then in a couple of months - you’ll be a real man.

I use stuff from here:

Much better than any of the stuff you’ll find in shops.

Have a watch of this video.

Mine is normally between four and six inches long depending how crap my hand/eye coordination is when I do it. Long as the sides are neat, it normally looks OK.

I'd leave it to just grown for a month or so first though.

Is there a reason you cant just use normal clippers with say a number 3 or whatever?

I say this as a non beardist.

I'd recommend letting it grow for a month or so. Unless you do just want a very short beard. It won't be neat for a while but that's the way it is.

When you've got something to work with, get to a barbers for a shaping and trim.

If you keep trimming it at such an early stage it'll at best take a very long time to grow out!

(I've a beard biggrin)

I grew a beard at 18yo. It was ginger and very bushy.
I just grew it and only trimmed it when the hairs on the mo got stuck in my teeth.

Now there is a whole industry for beard grooming.

(My stubble is white now. Thank fk!)

If I'm honest, I never liked the idea of having a beard. But then it grew on me.

Once you get to 10mm, keep growing! Then see a decent barber.

You don't want it all one length, that will look very odd.

I am seen as a bit edgy these days, what with being clean shaven and not being covered in tattoos, people give me a wide berth and stare at me on occasion.

Try doing that whilst wearing a clean shirt and trousers or even a suit and tie, see how people react to you then!!

Thanks all.
As recommended I will just grow it for a few months and then let the barber sort it out.

Cheers.
