Hi all,
This is probably a stupid question...
But anyway. The oil on the Griff needs to be changed every 6000 miles, yes? I was going to change it every 3000 to be on the safe side - but the latest oil has been in since June and done 1600 miles.
So - should I be thinking of changing it now, given that it's been in there a while, or am I being Ms Paranoid once again??
Edited to add: Don't answer that last question.

RichB said: 4 months and 1,600 miles? Sounds a bit OTT to me! R...
I usually get the oil changed every 4 months in all the cars. But it's easy to drop the oil out of the others and put new stuff in. I gather it's not quite so simple in the Griff...
Thanks Rich!

I know I've found this thread a bit late, but I'll add my bit anyway, for what it's worth.
Most important thing on the Griff (& other TVR/Rover V8 cars for that matter) regarding oil, besides change intervals, is to make sure there's plenty of oil in the engine, but never to overfill.
Depending on the engine/age/mileage/use, the oil will dissappear at anything from half to one litre, per 1k miles, and since the sump only holds a handfull of litres, that can leave it dangeraously low after 6k miles. I guess if you're driving hard (on a track of course) the oil will slosh around in the sump and when low, you may risk a drop in pressure.
Never overfill, otherwise you'll be in severe danger of pressurising the crank case and blowing something - usually the sump seal, at the end nearest the clutch - and casuing an oil leak.
If you knew that already, I hope I don't sound pedantic, but it is pretty vital stuff.

Peanuts, IMHO. The schedule is 6,000 miles OR once a year, whichever comes sooner. Why are you worrying?

'Cos I like worrying. If I don't worry about the oil, I'll worry about something else.'
Fair point, hadn't thought of that. Other good things to worry about are battery condition, fit of windows to roof, stonechips, scuffed alloys, pebbledashing behind the rear wheels, delaminating windscreens, scratched rear screens...
You have bought wisely!
