I have been with Virgin many years, but always told how much better Sky is. After my contract ended I tried to renew it with Virgin but their admin was crap, called them time and time again, just sat listening to bad music for ages, so switched. The installer was telling me how much better sky technology is. It is cheaper, more channels, I get an extra box too, but is it better?

I am disappointed. Virgin buffeted the channels so I could switch over and then go back and not loose anything, I could go to the menus and it would be easier to set up a recording, I could choose whether to record just new or from which episode, if I missed a program I could go back in the menus and watch it on iplayer which would start automatically or record feature shows, it was just lots better.

I seem to get multiple recordings of the same show on Sky, finding what to record is harder, sometimes there is no serial link, if I accidently turn over I loose the buffeted portion.

Buffered.

There are, of course, several different Sky interfaces. I stuck with the nice simple 'HD' system for many years, there's also 'Q' and now 'Streaming', plus their sister 'Now TV' service.

If Virgin does everything you want then stick with it, it is after all just a fancy VCR for recording dreadful TV shows when we really should be doing something more productive with our time.

You don't get any difference in channels so the only decider is what UI you prefer (I am assuming they are all priced somewhat equally).

Sky is cheaper although the internet is much slower on paper but I can't tell the difference.

I have the Q box

Can anyone explain why you can't get to your recordings while away from home on the internet,

I hate sky, you buy / rent their equipment and yet when it goes wrong, YOU pay for it, again, to get fixed or replaced. And you are at the mercy (exposed to potential cost to fix) of Openreach for any broadband or phone faults

Virgin, things goes wrong, they fix it.

For me it is that simple.
