Has anyone ever eaten this stuff? I have been asked to have a go at making a Pilipino dish called beef caldareta and this is a key ingredient. I am wondering if I am going to be faced with a nice pate type smell when I open it or am I going to be vomiting like after opening a can of surstromming?

Reno is a beef liver spread can be considered a type of pate but it is nowhere near its European counterparts, it has a hot and spicy taste and its texture is a bit gritty.

Doesn’t have a particularly strong odour.

Ok that’s good I just didn’t want to get one open it and be like hurl while I’m trying to make the dish
