Vet Membership Schemes

Hi All,

Are any of your pets part of the membership schemes at your vets? By schemes I mean the ones that include flea / worming, regular check-ups, vaccinations, and discounts on treatments.

We have two dogs and both included which equals £40 a month. While its handy to regularly get the flea / worming each 3 months, and vaccinations each month im thinking £480 is bloody expensive.

Anyone recommend what flea / worming I could use and order myself? Mine are on Veloxa XL Chew Tablet (Wormer) & Nexgard Spectra.

Also the vaccinations are kennel cough / diphtheria? Should I keep up with these?

The vets are great, but £480 a year is a bit rich to keep paying.

I regard them a bit like garage service plans.

Spreads the cost but better to just settle each bill as it comes. I'm not sure I see the ibenefit of quarterly worming

From memory, it's only about £35 to have a cat or dog put down.

Flea/worming look for 'Prazimec-D'.

Been using it on my dogs for the last few years, and had no issues at all. Lots of ticks here too and seriously reduced the number.

Does all sorts of parasites as well, including mites.

Goodness me no, we steer clear of them as much as possible and feed raw - result is healthier and longer lived dogs and cats.

Ours are also feed on raw so all healthy.

When I did the maths the Vet plan worked out the best for both our cat and dog

Not by a lot but its all sorted and piece of mind for the rest of the family and I don't have to remember to order things

Quarterly. Wally eats wet food and raw trotters, hearts, etc.

Drontal for worming 3-monthly, bought online, no prescription needed.
We've never had fleas with any of our dogs so don't bother with preventative treatment.

Any ticks - remove manually with a "twister" tool.

I need to do some sums as it looks like vaccinations are £100 per dog, but then I can get the worming less than £50 for 24 tablets which will last them 2 years.
