Hello,

I own an Octavia VRS, fitted with the 19” extreme alloys in Anthracite grey. They’re a bit of a pain and, knowing how vulnerable they are, I’ve been ultra cautious when driving on poor quality roads / parking and up until yesterday had avoided marking them.

Unfortunately I lightly glanced my rear wheel on a kerb on a roundabout yesterday, leaving some small scuff marks on the wheel. Ideally I’d like to avoid getting the wheel recut because from what I’ve read there is a limit to how many times this can be done.

Would it be possible to get this spot repaired? Not bothered about absolute perfection, but would just like it to be a little less obvious if possible.

Thanks I’m advance for any advice received.

Just get down to Halfords and buy some emery paper and touch-up paint. You might even be able to cut off the burrs with a Stanley knife before you use the emery paper. Work carefully and no one will ever spot the damage.

The alternative is a full wheel refurb at significant expense - and two weeks later you'll do the same damage again.

Regrettably the world is full of kerbed wheels. Ask me how I know...

I’d just live with that, it’s nothing

Clean it up a little and stick some lacquer touch up to seal it up.

Not worth worrying about it. When more are damaged maybe consider a refurb

Thanks for all the helpful replies.

I’ll try and smooth it out with emery paper and touch up the grey bit that’s scuffed.

I went to my local Halfords earlier today to see if they had a touch up kit - they didn’t - is there a specific type of paint I should use, and what kind of lacquer should I get ? Ideally I’d like something which can be applied with a brush rather than a spray can if possible.

Get a Halford's touch up in a colour that's similar to the wheel & use the colour & clear.
