Damn, the remote has packed up in my Boxster. Any ideas how to get it going again?

It's not the five day disable. (How long does it take Boxster owners to learn about this?..... First time they leave it more that five days I guess ;))

It's not the battery as I've replaced it as a precaution. It was working fine on Monday when I locked the car with it, but when I went to open it tonight, nothing. The red LED flashes, but the car just ignores it.

Does it need synching up to the car after a remote battery change? There is nothing in the manual, but my Primera needs to have the key turned in a special sequence to reactivate it.

I'm both :irked: and :grumpy:

Yup, did the manual door open and key in the ignition thing to silence the alarm. That works, but she still won't lock on the fob

Probably not this but....

I had a Golf that sent a different signal each time it was pressed. If the remote was pressed by mistake not near the car, it had to be re synchronised.

With the Golf it was done by manually locking, then unlocking, then pressing the remote.

Does the other keyfob work?

If neither of the remote controls work its probably somethign to do with the gubbins in the car and goodness knows how you fix that end of things

Tonker,

Fellow lawyer stuck to weekend use! Yes, remote fob detection unit powers down but not the alarm itself. You have to open door with the key and you have a couple of seconds to turn the ignition one click before the alarm goes off. All sensible as battery may drain if car left standing too long with alarm powered on to detect key fob.

To wake up the remote, you can also put hte key in the lock, and unlock but leave the door shut. Then lock and unlock with the keyfob thus negating the dash to beat the alarm.

There is no need to unlock the car to wake it up. Simply insert the key, turn it fully to the left return to the centre and then plip the remote. This will disable the alarm and unlock the car.
