Truly shocked by this. Was the soundtrack of my mid to late teens and early 20's.. 63 is no age at all.

So sad, one of my absolute musical hero's. First saw them on the 2Tone your when I was 15. The music of my youth, and continued to this very day. A great man with a troubled back story who made a real difference to me. He won't be forgotten in my household.

RIP. Whilst I liked The Specials, The Fun Boy Three album Waiting was the soundtrack to my half-hearted attempts to revise for my A levels in the summer of 1983 and is one of those records that I play a lot even now. Always takes me back.

Wow, I actually listened to some Specials tracks for the firs time in a good while a few nights ago when disappearing down an 80’s music rabbit hole (one of my favourite pastimes). I was more of an Indie fan as a kid back in the 80’s but I always really enjoyed the music of The Specials and Fun Boy Three…in my universe they had a pretty unique sound…the soundtrack of my youth was much richer for their great music without a doubt.

I just read about the sexual abuse he suffered as a child. Horrendous.

Yeah if I remember correctly he got kidnapped by one of his teachers!
