Jaguar XF or Lexus GS

Currently in the market for a V8 "barge" and the 5.0 variant of the XF seems to be great value. Was originally looking for an XFR but it seems as though an N/A 5.0 can be had for a fair bit less.
It would appear they weren't a massive sales success as there's not a great deal for sale but are there any owners on here who can offer any advice? Any common issues to look out for etc. And general ownership experience.
The other option is a Lexus GS, particularly the 460. These are even less common than the Jag but the obvious reliability that'll come with one is what is drawing me to them. Have also considered the 430 but the 460 is a decent step up on performance and comes with the better 8 speed box.
I'm assuming the Jag will be a better drivers car but I don't want that to come at the expense of poor reliability.
Have also considered the ze Germans but ruled them out this time.
