V8V Bamford rose upgrades
Discussion
I've been looking to get into a new vehicle for the last few months now, and a 4.7 V8V is joint top of the list with an R8 (both manual). The Vantage is more of a heart over head purchase as I think the R8 seemed to fit me better and the mrs enjoyed the R8 better too. That said, I still want the Vantage more than the R8
I'm still relatively young (29) and as such am not grown out of modifying my vehicles, id look to 'improve' it in regards to sound, power and handling where possible. I have come across the Bamfor Rose site and various youtube videos regarding replacing the headers and cats which can free up allegedly 40-50hp as well as increasing mpg by a significant amount too, almost sounds too good to be true for the man maths?!? Has anyone carried out the BR upgrades and had the car dyno'd after? Did the mpg increase at all (not that it really matters, but helps the man maths lol)? Also has anyone owned an R8 and a Vantage and got any advise on either? Biggest thing putting me off the R8 is ball joints and the inevitable carbon build up, but will probably become a future classic and has a much more up to date interior (the Vantage satnav screen is truely dreadful!)

I have the BR manifolds, cats, and remap. Also have the lightweight flywheel and dual plate clutch.
I've not dyno-ed it, but +40-50hp is meant to be a fairly well proved figure on other cars and from other tuners who do similar. Bum-dyno suggests that it's fairly accurate
The biggest thing is how the car drives after the mods though - it revs more freely, is more responsive and just feels lighter on its feet which were my main issues with the standard car (4.3). To you point, they are very effective mods, and the power increase is fairly well documented - the big negative is that £:bhp makes it a very expensive upgrade if you're just chasing power figures, but well worth it for the other reasons I've mentioned.

Looks of the V8V vs R8. Well this is an AM forum. Sure that you won't regret.
If you buy an early 4.7 (up to about 2010) there was no legal requirement to have cats in the manifolds (headers). BR can modify to create 400 cell cats easily, also do an airbox mod and remap. They say that releases about 30 bhp.
Twin plate clutch with lighter flywheel and Michelin PS4 tyres also help.
BR have done all that to my car. I was not concerned about additional power (perfectly adequate for UK roads), but presumably the extra could be measured by a dyno.
Post 2010, changing the manifolds to obtain better flow is normal practice.
Ref mpg. Does anyone buying a V8 or V12 sports car worry about fuel consumption? Annual use is often modest too, so under those circumstances, mpg would not be very relevant.
Don't worry about the historic Sat Nav. At least it has the advantage of remaining out of sight. You probably already have the most up to date Sat Nav of all, in your pocket !
Wonderful cars to own. Each Aston Martin drive, provides a special occasion feeling.
I had a 2015 V8V manual which had the Bamford Rose manifolds, cats and modified air filter. It also had a twin plate clutch and lightened flywheel.
Now, I only have BR's word for it, but they say that this package (which cost £9k) lifts power by 40-50 bhp; reaching somewhere over 470 if true.
I recently sold it because I just never used it. Cracking car though.
I can only say that it felt very, very quick on public roads - it actually had way more performance than you could safely use, although that's true of many other cars. It pulled hard from around 3000 rpm and sounded fantastic; I highly recommend the BR package although other vendors are available no doubt.
As for the SatNav, you can get it upgraded by Aston Installations in Tewkesbury to something much more modern.

As per Nick, same upgrades from BR (on a 4.3) and same feeling post-mods, noticeably more responsive and of course sounds mad. These same mods on a 4.7 would be quite a joy I should imagine.I've not dyno-ed it, but +40-50hp is meant to be a fairly well proved figure on other cars and from other tuners who do similar.
