What car is next?

Am after advice please

Currently running two cars and an electric Carver (selling). A 2012 XC90 D5 that we have owned for 6 years and has 180k miles on it, is scratched, a workhorse, dog goes in, used for weekly tip runs/trailer towing, reliable, costs £1k/annum to keep it running, 34MPG but would be nervous about doing a family holiday to the south of France in it.
Second car is a 2011 F12 640i convertible that we have owned for 8 years and its on 110k, reliable, fast enough when needed and averages 32MPG.

Darling Wife has a new job and is commuting from the Wirral to Leicester at least once a week - 18k miles/annum - and i would like her to be in something safe and economical.

So reaching out to this group for advice, collision detection system that auto brakes the car is the main function that I'm looking for her safety. Automatic gearbox, Petrol or Diesel - its about the total cost of the 18kmiles.

Budget is up to £25k, and ideally an interesting car that is pleasant to spend time in.

What would you suggest please?

Yes, it would have to replace one of them. Sadly it would probably by the BMW as that has a little bit of value left and is the least sensible.

Sad times! Getting rid of a V8 for another diesel! Hopefully one of these could soften the blow as they are not too much slower than the 640i but should be able to get 50 mpg on a run, plus they have all the required safety features.

we are now going to plan what needs we have and then set out the types of vehicles (one big one small, two big, one suv, one city) etc
