As much as I think the new one is a great car I shall be keeping my “old” V12 not least because of cost and I believe they are all sold which is a relief so no selling any vital organs!

I agree Kevin, when I originally saw project AM305 I knew that would be the only car to get me out of the seat of my 911! Like you started with the V8 but made the mistake of driving a V12 at launch and just had to have one!The most beautiful car designed ever I think

What a jokester! Show those two photos to anyone who knows nothing about Astons, and 9 out 10 will choose the ‘old’ classy design instead of the mess of the new one.

I know many dislike the stuck on display of modern cars in general, but nearly all of them are that way now. Additionally the mechanism does seem a major failure point of trying to hide it away.
In regards to the rest of the design, I am glad AM stuck with buttons avoiding the touch screen nonsense. In comparison with the older VH platform cars I actually think the new car is possibly easier to use, in pure design terms then different eras and in general I prefer the newer design in honesty.
New cars are just no longer as involving for the driver, but on the flip side, better for the commuter. This is across every brand and Aston probably does better than most in this regard.
It’s down to so many factors. Chief villain is the fun police which has resulted in a tamed down emotional experience. Though at the same time, new cars are faster than ever, but with the fun engineered out of the equation. So many things in this world no longer make a great deal of sense. I’m not an old curmudgeon. I’m very into tech and love it, and what I do for a living which is all about tech has given me the means to escape tech.
Which is why I see my Aston as an escape pod from day to day life. A place to just switch off and enjoy the feeling of man and machine. It makes me grin from ear to ear. Like the way a certain song will take you back to an era where you had fond memories. The Aston plays its song. It gives its gift to 4 of the 5 senses. Does that make it a sensual experience? Maybe it does.
Oh yes, final point, I prefer the V8. Contentious. But it’s the one for me. I fully understand and respect the majority that prefer the 12 though. No judgement here. Just kudos.

If that car has indeed been sold for £400,000, the vendor probably did well.

Not really, no one in this thread has expressed a personalised view or comment against a person at a personal level, but you. You only did this because someone had an opposing viewpoint that did not align with your own.We can all express different opinions as long as we respect them and keep it factual about the item in discussion.
The moment it changes to being personal against someone then for me it crosses a line. Nothing about being sensitive, but makes someone feel inclusive even if their view is opposing, whilst still expressing a factual view about the item in question.
It also has the elegance of not resulting in a slanging match that so many areas of this forum and elsewhere I have seen end up in. Additionally, respectful disagreement I think has better standing than personal attacks, which is just a poor show really.

Sadly for AM, they realised that had made a great mistake in letting him go, so he was brought back on board as ‘director of design’ working under his old boss Reichmann, who somehow soldiers on.
