Fuse 22 Repercussions
Discussion
None save maybe that it can cause the valves to stick open permanently. Some advise to let the mechanism do its job from time to time to prevent this.
Other problem is ear related, especially with convertibles but the sound is well worth the sacrifice!
My fuse has been permanently taken out for the last 7 years or so. No regrets and I have no idea if they’re stuck in the open position… and really don’t care!

mine has a switch fitted. available very cheap . so ideal for quiet motorway cruising or not annoying the neighbours when leaving the estate, keeps it from potential seize too
I have this gadget too; very easy to fit and use. https://www.cccharger.co.uk/Simpo Two said:

mine is a simple rocker switch . no remote or anything Sir.Rothschild said:
Any known long-term repercussions to removing the fuse 22 (exhaust valve)?
In addition to the above, I have the CCharger remote and if I leave the valves open at motorway speeds I get an exhaust drone in the cabin that isn't there when the valves are allowed to operate normally.Simpo Two said:

ie. OEM, or Always Open.
The wired switch arrangement provides an additional option;
ie. Always Closed.
Helpful for any leaving early occasions, if nearby neighbours might still be sleeping.

No, unless you buy the 'memory' version it defaults to closed. I wasn't going to rip up my car from boot to dashboard to fit a wire; a wireless remote is perfect ie. OEM, or Always Open.

I bought the remote switch. I even trained my garage door opener to operate it.
I had it on the car for three years.
I sold the car and removed it from the fuse box. The car suddenly sounded much better and louder. Yes, you’ve guessed it. The switch had never worked and it had been on standard operation mode all that time!

I originally had the well known remote, which controlled the operation of the fuse.
Cannot understand how a 'memory' version can permanently close the valves. If it still only controls the fuse, it would have to be defaulting OEM. That leaves the valves open at startup and below about 1,500 rpm.
My car had a switch fitted, when an exhaust upgrade was done.
No need to rip up a car from boot to dashboard. The switch does not control the fuse.
The switch is very easy ti reach, but is completely hidden to the left of yiur knees.
I understand it is simply connected to wiring in the centre tunnel, near to the gear lever position.
My early starts are very rare and neighbours not close, so the switch remains in always open position, except on motorways where closed or OEM would close the valves.
To be able to completely close the valves before startup, must be a very helpful feature for some owners in particular curcumstances.

Pretty sure the remote switch I have just opens the valves at lower rpm once underway. Sounds exactly the same at startup in either mode

All the device does is switch a fuse in or out remotely. If it's in the 'quiet' position, which it is on start-up, the car behaves as normal. If you select the 'loud' position, it's loud all the time. The version with the memory just keeps it how it was last time you used it.Cannot understand how a 'memory' version can permanently close the valves. I have no desire to investigate the wiring in the central tunnel...!

Interesting! Struggling to fit both remote for garage door and remote for ccharger in the front "ashtray". Was it an aftermarket garage door opener or the factory one in the rear view mirror?Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
