For those of you that buy and sell quite frequently, how do you get confidence that you're not overpaying?

What's the smart move for someone that wants to own and experience for say 3-6 months then move on and try something else - personal subscription to Glass's valuation or similar?

I buy and sell about every 6 months.

On buying - I always find sticking it on Autotrader sales gives a suggested private sale price, which is a good guide.

My last purchase had a WBAC valuation of £35k and a private sale Autotrader guide of £41k, with similar cars listed at dealership for £45k - I was happy to pay £39k

However it aways difficult to predict the mkt
I lost £6k on my Taycan in 6 months - I thought I bought really well, and currently looking at a £3k loss in just over 5 months on my GR Yaris.

The big issue is they are not many sensible private buyers around - and therefore when it comes to selling - quite often your left with trade sale.

I've done well avoiding depreciation and getting a minor uplift on some high mileage BM M Sports but at a lower quantum than you and held onto them for far too long - 3 - 4 years+.

There's lots of vehicles I would like to experience - I dither too long fretting about overpaying
