HPI mileage discrepancy

I’m looking at a car, just had an HPI check done and it’s come back with this




It’s looks like the issue is around 2017, I’ve had a look on the mot history online and it didn’t have an mot in 2017, this is the only year with no MOT

I’m not completely sure what I’m looking at, like why is there multiple entries per year and then no entires for other years, and what would be the VOSA entry in 2022?

Where do the NMR come from, as none of it appears to stack with with the mot

NMR data can come from dealership when they service or sell a car, the registered keeper when they sell or tax the car using the V5 or from an NMR search.

Looks fine to me, just someone being lazy and rounding up an approximate mileage without checking the actual car.

You can ask HPI to complete an investigation and they will question the data source for you.

The mot history mileage is all I'd personally look at along with the service history and invoices if there are any.The NMR mileage needs to be ignored. Someone has obviously rounded up the mileages and also made mistakes along the way..

The reason for no MOT in 2017 was because the car was sat on sale at a dealers, what I find odd is when selecting certain points on the chart above, at the 2018 mark, the mot mileage is at 62,803, whilst the NMR is 100k



I managed to find the advert from September 2017 which states the mileage as 62,787 which is also verified by a photo of the speedo, so I can only assume it’s a mistake on the database, although a fairly large one

I was concerned that the car had been clocked, although after having a good look I’m leaning towards the data being wrong, however I will want this to be investigated and resolved if I do purchase the car, because this will crop up to future buyers when I come to sell the car, which may put people off

What sort of car is it? Reason for asking is that I’ve got an errant mileage record on my car’s record because some muppet doing the MoT switched the speedo/odometer from miles to km (to be fair, it’s easily done on mine). And 62,803 miles converts to just over 100,000km.

It’s a civic type R, and funnily enough there’s a MPH/KPH button right next to the speedo!

Have you tried getting the discrepancy resolved?
