Back at the start of the first lockdown I bought a 1/48 Tamiya Mosquito kit - it's about time had a go at it...

It's been a while since I last did this. I notice on the instructions that a few areas show more than one paint code, listed as follows.

XF-5:1
+XF-21:3
+XF-65:1

What does this mean?

Ta!

PAINT! I really should read this stuff first.

It means you have to mix up the 3 different colours in the ratio of:
1 part of XF-5
3 parts of XF-21
1 part of XF-65

Or simply, find out what the official paint reference are and then buy an appropriate actual authentic colour. Knowing Mosquitoes, I would guess that the upper surfaces are RAF Dark Green and RAF Ocean Grey with possibly Medium Sea Grey on the undersurfaces.

Xtracolour (enamel) and Xtracrylix (acrylic) are my favourite RAF World War 2 paints.

What you actually want are XF-81, XF-82 & XF-83.

These came along after the instructions for your kit were written, but are Tamiyas versions of those late war British camo colours.
