'06 Maserati Coupe/Spyder
Discussion
Well, the mystery continues. AutoExpress (this week) had a small article with the latest photos of a test mule leaving Maranello. The good news is they say it's headed for production. Weird, but they never mentioned the fact this car is supposed to be cancelled. They did mention that Ferrari may launch their own version though (Dino).
The car in the pic was a folding hardtop.
The Italiaspeed website mention a Trofeo version of the Gransport is also on it's way. Could this be a last hurrah until the new one arrives?
Who knows??!?!?!?!! :)

Even though none of you seem to care ( ) here's the scoop picture.
Hope the real thing is a little sleeker.

No more info than that, I'm afraid.
I do keep Googling for more info every now and again. Seems there's contradictary information about at the moment.
Given the choice, I'd rather this was released as the Maserati (they need it more), but equally a new Dino and even an Alfa 8C would be more than welcome

TT - I feel the same - Maserati really need to launch a new car - it's a while since the QP lanuch and the gransport has done its business as a last (brilliant) hurrah for the 3200 / 4200 shape (it's been around for 7 years now!)
I did head rumblings that there might be a trofeo version of the Gransport released in the spring - but that was just a rumour in a mag I think... Not sure how you could improve on the Gransport though...

More (potentially) good news. Autocar have also reported that the Coupe/Spyder could be back on track. Production costs have to be cut, so things like air-con and the electrical systems need to be re-engineered to replace the Ferrari parts with Alfa parts. Autocar still seem to think we may not see the car for 3 years.....seems a long time to me.
They also reported on a "baby" Quattroporte using a modified Alfa 159 4wd chassis and a V8 (GM Northstar). They didn't mention a cheaper coupe/spyder based on this chassis, but I guess it makes sense. Just hope the engine installation doesn't compromise the handling (it'll be a transverse jobbie).

Such a shame the 8C never made it to production - what a great looking car. And it was so close aswell: I was in an AR dealership last year and they had marketing material on it and a ballpark price of 60K

I'd have room for both one of these and a new Maserati in my dream garage
