S2 Dash repair ?

A friend of my dad has a S2 - and is looking how to repair/repaint his dash as my dad says the paint is coming off - can anyone confirm what it is made from and what the best way to get it looking good again ?

how wierred...... imitation plastic called Alma (or something like that), Leather or veneerred......

any pics of it ?????

I have an S2 and the dash has got leather on it. I went to SCH3 last weekend and not one of the S's I saw had a painted dash, they are either leather (or leather look alike), wood, and the odd few have maybe aluminium trim.

Would be interested to see a picture!

well this is 3rd hand... and I have never seen the car - I will ask for more info.

There are a few S2's around with the factory option of a wood-effect dash. I understand these were painted on to the GRP.

I think it's in the "Bible".

This is my dash in an S2, still have never seen any others like it, I am not sure what the finish is, but I doubt it is real veneer, so this could be what he is refering to?

I think you will find that the S2 dash that looks like wood is actually a wood effect painted on, as is the normal S3 'wood' dash!!

PaceRacing used to have an S with that dash... he had it refurbed...

Back in the distanct past of PH I took some photos and started a thread... it'll be in here..... somewhere...

Heyiga....I have a dash just like yours in my S2!!! Did you originally have the wooden steering wheel and gear knob too?

Thats the original steering wheel, although I have thought about changing it for a wooden version. I have since re-done the gearlever gaiter, and put a wooded knob in, the car came with the Ford sierra knob.... nice!
