No but it looks pretty epic, guess the crux is in getting the chrome / aluminum colour on it. Get it bought.

I built the Airfix 1/72 kit when I was 11, it was BIG.

Whilst not a great builder of plastic kits, I have a can of Plasti-Kote Fast Dry Enamel E5408 Chrome Effect and it's the best I've found. Not quite 'chrome' of course but it would look right at that scale I think.

I'm really tempted, I think they are around £140.

I made the Airfix one many years ago.

My favourite WW2 bomber, a wonderful piece of engineering.

Off topic, but I found this interesting:-

A B-29 in 1/48 is slightly enormous. Academy do a nice 1/72 one (and also a B-50).

The Revell kit in the video is the old Monogram kit reboxed. It was originally released in 1977 but is a pretty good kit for its age. I've seen it built up and it is very impressive.

The Airfix kit is rather ancient (1966) so you will have to cope with all that this will entail.

Cheers Eric. Never knew it was an old Monogram kit.

Monogram was acquired by Revell in the 1990s. Revell also issue the Monogram 1/48 B-17 and C-47 from time to time. They are all good models but of their time (mid 1970s).

I built the Monogram kit back in the early 1980s; in the box was a nice leaflet about Sheperd Paine's Tinian diorama: http://sheperdpaine.atspace.com/b29.htm complete with fibre-optic cockpit and bomb bay illumination. He also did one with their B-17 and the B-24 - all of which were pretty awe-inspiring to teenage modeller me.
