Track day insurance

You may remember some time ago I mentioned that there was an insurance broker who was aiming to put together track day cover just for Noble owners. Well it's here.

Autotorque insurance have put a package together which provides single day track cover for just £50, with an excess equivalent to ten per cent of the car's value (this is standard on most track day policies, I understand).

Autotorque is not linked with Noble in any way, so this is NOT factory authorised. Just thought I'd bring it to your attention.

Wow thats a great deal. Hope I can get similar on my porker

Things I recommend people confirm before commiting :

- do they cover Euro track days.
- is there a maximum number they will let you do per year.
- do they have any exclusions? A lot of companies exclude anything engine related, so if you go backwards into a barrier and crush your engine, you are on your own on that part of a claim.

I am insured on this policy and but have not had the documentation through from Chaucer who are the underwriters. They do a similar policy with Lotus and I am told it is very good.

I have just become insured with Autotorque fully on this policy and they have so far been very kind to me. Have booked TD insurance for Bedford this bank hol monday.

Strange you should mention not receiving the documentation through. I asked for a quote to be emailed to me on a couple of occasions and never received anything...

Does this Guy EVER call back!! have rung four times chasing him, still just says "call you back" and does not. I assumed this was a set price deal, keeps telling me he needs to speak to the underwriters. Has anyone else been sussesful with actually getting on risk ??

Does the policy insist on the car being garaged after at night? The Comp. Car Ins. policy does and so you just take a risk if you're away for a long weekend.

Must say I have not read the small print fully as I have not yet had it from the Underwriters.

I told them that the car would be garaged at night but like most policies (if not all?) they cannot deny a claim if your away from home at the time.

Are you saying that with Comp Car ins, your not allowed to stay at a friends house for the night!?

The policy I have now with Chaucer seems very good indeed.

I paid £850 and its with unlimited TD's and a good rate for the TD excess. (less than others) I can say that as long as they pay out should I have a claim then I personally have been very well "looked after" by Autotorque.

Can't give the full details but I was the gunniea pig for this new policy and don't expect my renewal next year to be quite as good!!

PS.. It took me 4 months to sort this policy and believe me, I had 30 "I'll call you backs!!"

But it was worth it in the end!

Regarding autotorque, I've now found out why Chris has been a bit slow getting back to people. Its a good excuse, but not really for me to say, so please bare with them. I got a message from the head man on another forum (SELOC) explaining! (apparently he owns a noble!)

To be fair I only spoke to the chap late on in the afternoon so I'm not moaning. Some people have had some very good rates from them, so fingers crossed here!

Maybe 30+ is a slight exaggeration, but I did get very pissed off waiting!!

Chris is a very nice chap though and I can only assume that he is very overworked.

Good rates and i would imagine that in the event of a claim, I would be dealing with Chaucer and not Autotorque as they are the broker.

Can you elaborate a little Richard? I've just taken this policy two weeks ago (bit of a shame in light of the offer being discussed here) and whilst there is an overnight garaging policy when the car is at the insured address, I was told specifically that this obviously did not apply if you had taken the car away for the weekend or were overnighting at a friends house.

Interesting that The Comp Car insurance deal is underwritten by Chaucer too.

So do you only get 4 trackdays cover too, and then have to start paying insane amounts per event there after? I was quoted 2.6k to insure the RS with 4 free trackdays, then about 350 quid a pop thereafter. urghhhh...

I'll check tonight (the policy document is at home).

Any claim will be restricted by the policy document so you'd best get any additions or amendments in writing.
