This year I have been doing mainly kayaking and pinball (oh, and taking photos of these activities as well)!

I have to admit, I've stuggled to get this down to 5. Not because I had a myriad of a amazing photots, but I made a trip up Kilimanjaro in September and the views were stunning. I'd have happily used 5 from that trip alone but tried to keep some variety.

I bought an A7R4 this year so I have been out more than in previous years.
From early in the year at a light up the city art installation

The Lloyds building in London. My favourite building shot with a really dark ND filter so I could do a longer exposure. The sun bust is real. I have this printed out on on the wall in my office

From a sunday scramble at Bicester Heritage. The lens I was using only goes to F4 so I couldn't get the DOF that I wanted but I'm still really pleased with it.

My mini at a mini meet that turned out to be 99% modern minis

From the top of a mountain in Olden, Norway. Freshwater fjord on the left and a seawater one on the right. To give an idea of scale the ship on the right has 7000 people on board. I have this printed out A2 size.

My top 5 favourites from the year, personal choices rather than portfolio candidates
This magnificent boy was taken in September at the beginning of the rut. He stopped long enough for me to get a dozen shots while he listened to the bellowing of his rivals away off in Richmond Park

A nice surprise find in Burnham Beeches, Bucks. One small stretch of the brook is in deep forest cover, but with both banks nearly clear for about 20 metres. Cue a reflection shot

My attempt at the "pebbles on a seaside rock" which is a common subject in this year's landscape competitions. Marazion Beach in Cornwall

Inspired by Chinese classical painting. Pen Ponds in Richmond Park

My interpretation of JMW Turner's Rain Steam and Speed

Ah nice one! Were waders required?PomBstard said:
For a phone image that's pretty special. Can I ask which HDR app it used? Doing that with a big camera would take a fair amount of work to blend exposures, it's impressive.Whoozit said:
Agreed! Who doesn’t like a transaxle?

My older son, Owen - this is probably my favourite photo of the year, as we'd had such a good day out.

Ethan Craik (no relation) - shooting the British Downhill Series mountain bike race in Wales was a highlight of the year, and something that I would like to do more in 2023.

There were practically three holes worn into the ground for this shot of Staithes, but I still like it:

And finally, because everyone seems to love a sausage dog:

Some cracking shots so far!. I didn't get out with the camera as much as I wanted to, and I had a completely new set-up to get to grips with, so here are my favourites from 2022....
