Yet again I’ve lost my keys. I’m shocking at misplacing them but I think they’ve properly gone for a burton this time.

I still have the spare - anyone any idea of (non dealer) cost? And will someone be able to disable the missing set?

It all depends. If it's a 1983 Mercedes 500SL, it will be easy. If it's a 2016 SL500 , it will be expensive and if it's a 1997 SL500 it's impossible,

Last time I lost mine (2011 C Class) it was proof of ID, V5 and £250 to the dealers and wait for 10days for the key to come pre-programmed from Germany.

Still could be worse I hear some of the new Jag/range Rover keys are £2,000!

No connection, and not used them so this is just a suggestion: people on the Merc forums rave about http://www.replacementmercedeskeys.co.uk/

I had my 2016 SLK key replaced by a independent for £155, very good.
