The rest of the interior of my 10 year old 991.1 C4S feels modern, incredibly well built and 'at home'. I think Apple CarPlay, google maps/spotify etc would just finish it off perfectly. I have PCM with DAB audio. Has anyone managed to make this upgrade and if so how much?!!
Hopefully I can avoid the OPC's!

I have a Joye Auto upgrade, it works great but I believe this is the latest and greatest option with some worthwhile differences

Unique Auto Developments do one for PCM 3.1.

Harry Metcalfe reviewee on his Jag project 7 roadtrip so worth looking at that to see how it performed.

Presume you already have done the Bluetooth aux update to stream music from your phone/Amazon etc?

Are there any Porsche approved solutions that won't invalidate a warranty.

Only for 996 and 997.1.

Nothing for the PCM3/3.1 systems in 997.2 and 991.1.

The solution a number of you have proposed sounds perfect however I have the remainder of a 2yr OPC warranty. Is it really the case that fitting an after market upgrade to my PCM system could invalidate the warranty? Really?!!

The ‘gate keeper” for you warranty is your OPC. They all have slightly different attitudes to it….some are reportedly very strict others less so. That probably will also depend on where you bought the car from and whether it’s been OPC serviced since new etc. What I think is almost certain is that if you want to extend your warranty absolutely everything has to be 100% OEM. T

You should check with your OPC but I would imagine with any electrical faults might be challenging.

At the end of the day if you buy any product and ask the manufacturer to honour the warranty after you’ve modified it is that really reasonable ? When is it a minor modification and when does it become material ? Can you imagine trying to administer a warranty that had flexibility like that in it. We’d all be paying more for our cars that is for sure.

With regards to the OPC’s question Porsche introduced a retrofit PCM for 997 relatively recently which incudes CarPlay/…I imagine at some stage they will do something for 991.1 but it will be a while I reckon.

I did one diy in a 981. Just bear in mind they all involve opening up the PCM and inserting extra circuit boards. The PCM has factory seals on it so no way of hiding that someone’s been in it, and a new one costs thousands IF it was to break or be damaged….

Thanks. Appreciate the heads up. The guys that are fitting are an approved firm which NM themselves recommended but noted, thank you.
