Someone hit my jeep and drove off - Polish
Discussion
Hello All
Someone hit my jeep today at the petrol station - woohoo........
I was filling it up at the petrol station when a van tried to squeeze passed me to leave the petrol station and took the mirror off. I was just walking inside at this point, heard it, turned around and the van wheel spun off......
Annoyed - It's a new Ford Ranger, it's taken the wingmirror casing off and broke the indicator.
Anyway It was an odd sleeper cab curtain side, but the smaller version if that makes sense, had his name in the windscreen or a name.
Checked the petrol station CCTV and conveniently enough it doesn't cover the entrance or exit but the chap paid by fuel card so they gave me a print out.
I've reported it to the police and got an incident number - They're going to call me on Wednesday.
What will happen now?
In the meantime I may as well order the bits online to sort it.

Cheers for that. I've sent him a parts request as they don't show any for the 2022 Ranger.
Sorry to say but from my experience of seeing a car knock my wing mirror off and drive away, the police won't be interested in the slightest as it's not a high enough priority.
Might be different in your case but the copper I spoke to over the phone said that as the damage was under £100 they wouldn't take any action. That was north wales police about 3 years ago.
If you want to recoup your losses you'll have to contact the third party and threaten to sue unless they pay up. I presume the replacement cost is going to be £50 - £200? If so not worth going to your insurance over.
I think stuff like this you generally have to file under the s
t happens folder in life.

+1 Similar incident happened in Asda, gave up chasing legal route and reluctantly put it down to stuff happens Might be different in your case but the copper I spoke to over the phone said that as the damage was under £100 they wouldn't take any action. By coincidence, I saw a Ford Ranger earlier today and I thought how ridiculously big they are for UK roads.
How do you even manage to park it?
Observation, being able to drive to a normal standard mostly. How much bigger do you think they are than some of the other stuff on our roads? How do you even manage to park it?

I'd imagine that you will both meet again, it'll be a compelling attraction, then have a great big fight with old swords.
If you're feeling a bit rusty with the swordery, try finding another of your kind whose a bit older & Spanishy, willing to help with tuition, & not fight you. When you defeat your enemy, you can take whatever of his you want, which will pay for your repairs & more. Don't fight at another petrol station though, powerful electricity & fuel pumps isn't a good combo.
There can be only one................
Good luck with the repairs & successful outcome.

Glad that's not too expensive, my sister had a mirror a few years ago and it cost her something daft like £300.
Does the fuel card receipt show his reg number? If so you can pay £2.50 to DVLA and use Form V888 to request the keeper's details for the purposes of pursuing a claim. (see https://www.gov.uk/request-information-from-dvla)
Might be worth sending a letter of claim and see if they pay up.
Either that or find the vehicle and vandalise it at night / throw cans of red bull / bum their wife / bum their dog etc

Yep I’ve got the details of the fuel card, reg of the vehicle etc
Police are going to call me on Wednesday apparently.
I’ll no doubt see it again around here, there’s a contingent of polish vans that do removals etc so hopefully see it again, if all else fails I’ll claim his mirror as a trophy or something along them lines.

I am confused, do you drive a Jeep, or a Ford? Was it a Ford that hit you?
I see what you have done. Hilarious.
Is the OPs car a Jeep or "new Ford Ranger" and was hit by a curtain sided truck?
Or maybe it was all made up.
