Drawing in viewers and keeping them returning
Discussion
Folks,
I'm trying to come up with ideas to improve the exposure of our race teams website..
The car is liveried up, as is our "support vehicle" and there are links from the oily pages, most of my posts on here, just been submitted to carpages etc etc etc..
Where would you recommend that I attempt to publicise the site?
And once I've got people visiting the site, how would I keep them coming back?
I appreciate I haven't updated the content for a little while, but we've not really had any news to update the site with...
I'd appreciate any thoughts and feedback...
btw, its www.587racing.com
cheers for any help,
slinky

Aye, we have a forum, unfortunately it's rather under used... something we need to rectify!

You also need to be clear in your mind why you want to attract new viewers and have them keep coming back.
What is it you are trying to achieve: attracting sponsorship, advertising revenue? Once you know your goal, it may lead you to alternate (and possibly easier) ways of reaching it.

I've had a quick brainstorm and thought of the following ideas :
----------------
Technical Features :
Chassis, gearbox, engine etc...
Need to improve content and rate of content update to ensure return visits,
Need to promote use of forum, maybe to compete with xxxxx or something along those lines, it can't be that difficult!
Try to improve Google Ranking, need to get site linked from more sites as this improves ranking, need more keywords as well... We should be the top result or near the top for a drag racing search on .co.uk
-----------
Obviously some of these are easy to do, the content increase and regularity of update, but promoting the use of the forum and increasing our google profile could prove more difficult, how best to go about that?
The main reason for attracting new viewers is purely exposure, drawing people into the world of drag racing and autograss racing.... however, although at present we do not generate advertising revenue, it would be nice to do so, but I don't feel that I could approach possible advertisers until there is a sufficient regular hit count. At the same time we would like to attract further sponsors (btw, reasonable rates can be arranged
but that, I feel, could possibly be affected by the hit count/rate in the same way as potential advertising clients..
Btw, if you were to sell space, would you sell it on a pay per click basis, or an impressions basis?
